Bankruptcy Lawyer in Mobile County, Alabama
Helping You Reorganize Your Debts under Chapter 13
If you are facing financial challenges, but do not qualify to permanently discharge debt under Chapter 7, a Chapter 13 filing will still help you put a stop to the harassing phone calls and letters, and can help you stop home foreclosure proceedings.
At the Cooper Law Firm LLC, we offer extensive experience to men and women who want to get a fresh financial start with a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing. An attorney for over 10 years, Angela Cooper worked as a bankruptcy paralegal for 15 years before entering the practice of law. The hallmark of our practice is our commitment to personal service and attention. We believe that every question you have deserves a clear and comprehensive answer. We will work closely with you throughout the process, helping you understand your rights and options.
We offer a free initial consultation to all clients. To schedule an appointment, contact our office online or call us at 251-272-3831 (toll-free at 888-894-4985).
Our Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Practice
When you hire us to help you get a fresh start through bankruptcy, we will first conduct a means test to determine whether you qualify to permanently discharge your unsecured debt under Chapter 7. If you are not eligible, if you prefer to repay your creditors or if you have secured debt and want to keep the property, we can help you get the protection you need through Chapter 13.
In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceeding, you are allowed to enter into new payment arrangements with your creditors, reorganizing your debt so that you can pay it off over a 3 to 5 year period. In exchange, your creditors are prohibited from calling or sending you written requests for payment, or from taking legal action to attempt to collect the debt.
We handle all matters related to a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing, preparing and submitting all the paperwork to initiate the process and acting on your behalf in all meetings with creditors, the bankruptcy trustee or the court. We will help you put together a plan of reorganization to submit to your creditors and will review all proposed repayment plans to make certain they are within your means
An additional advantage of a Chapter 13 filing is that, unlike a Chapter 7 filing, you do not have to pay attorney fees in advance.
